Hey There!
I'm Ron Chin.

I'm a gamer, techie, blogger, and tester. Learning about the latest technologies or latest games is my passion.  In my professional life, I do consult work with clients from web design, social media marketing, and search engine optimization/search engine marketing to testing the site for bugs issues before launch. My work includes working with clients on content updates, website maintenance, promoting businesses using Facebook Ads, and Google Ads. Clients I've worked with include small business owners and non-profit organizations.  I also build computers for customers as well.  In my professional career, I do testing for various apps on platforms from Samsung Smart TV, Roku, iOS, Android, Xbox, and PlayStation. My passion is working with digital media and enjoying Game Of Thrones and Doctor Who in my down time. In my leisure time, I enjoy participating in beta tests for new games and writing feedback to help make improvements and documenting bug reports to assist developers with fixing issues encountered.

NBC- Peacock TV (December 2022 - Present)

Quality Assurance Lead

Collaborated with a global QA team to perform test validations and test plans to ensure Peacock TV delivers a high quality product to our customers from the same network that is home to Saturday Night Live, Law & Order, The Office and the Olympics.

  • Participated in the interview loops for new hires and responsible for onboarding.

  • Scaled team as needed to meet new demands for upcoming projects.

  • Promoted team from within with 2 promotions within first year as lead.

  • Managed team of 5 QA resources including staff and contractors.

  • Represented QA team in daily scrums and triage meetings.

  • Collaborated with other QA Leads within the USA/UK/Portugal teams for Peacock and its other propositions.

  • Supported our international projects with content metadata validations on backend and front end.

  • Trained team members on debugging using Charles Proxy, Dev Tools, ADB LogCat, Postman.

  • Assisted business teams with ad hoc requests including new features testing, new content being promoted on partner platforms, and other special projects within NBCU.

  • Tested implementation of AVOD implementation and reported issues back to the Ads / Video teams.

  • Performed regression / smoke tests on new builds across various OTT, mobile and desktop platforms.

NBC- Peacock TV (July 2020 - December 2022)

Quality Assurance Specialist

  • Served as Subject Matter Expert for features and collaborated with QA team members from our Lisbon, Portugal team.

  • Assisted business teams with ad hoc requests including testing Adobe analytics, Comscore and app performance testing.

  • Managed defect reporting tool using Microsoft PowerBI and Tableau and provided progress reports to Director of QA / Trials.

  • Assisted Trials team in implementing reporting dashboard using Tableau for JIRA issues.

  • Tested implementation of AVOD implementation and reported issues back to the Ads / Video teams.

  • Performed regression / smoke tests on new builds across various OTT, mobile and desktop platforms.

  • Collaborated with our SKY QA teams based in Lisbon, Portugal with testing new features and retesting bug fixes.

HBO (June 2016 - July 2020)

Quality Assurance Analyst

HBO (Home Box Office) is home to popular series including True Blood, The Sopranos, and most notably,  Game Of Thrones. HBO is available on across multiple platforms from Desktop, CTV, Android / iOS Apps, and game consoles. 

  • Created test plans for HBO.com and Cinemax.com.

  • Researched and test existing market HBO GO apps on the Android and iOS beta programs to ensure apps will continue to work on the latest operating systems.

  • Executed smoke test and regression testing across all platforms including iOS and Android mobile devices, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Chromecast, Smart TVs, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4.

  • Used different cable providers to execute affiliate testing for main functionality web, game console and mobile apps.

  • Identified, logged and tracked software bugs/defects into Youtrack / Jira.

  • Created logs using ADB, Xcode and Charles Proxy for bug verification.


DramaFever (2014 - 2015)

MOBILE SUPPORT SPECIALIST

DramaFever is the largest online video site for the distribution of international televised content. We stream the world's best movies, documentaries and TV shows on demand with professional subtitles. 

  • Served as the go to person for mobile tech issues and maintained 9.0 /10 rating on customer satisfaction surveys.

  • Responded to 100-200 inquiries from customers daily with billing and account related issues including subscriptions and login issues, respond to inquiry submissions via email and social media from customers with issues regarding video playback on PC, Mac, iOS, Android, Roku, Google Chromecast, Samsung Smart TV, Xbox, and Playstation platforms.

  • Documented bug reports discovered on iOS and Android platforms using GitHub and followed up with developers / QA teams.

  • Participated in the beta testing phase of our mobile apps prior to release and report any bugs discovered to QA team and developers for fixing.

  • Maintained and updated mobile FAQ's.


TONE (2015 - 2016)

TECHNICAL SUPPORT LEAD / QA TESTER

Tone enables subscribers to personalize access to relevant content from an ecosystem of trusted brands across public and private sectors. The product line includes affordable 3G+ data plans that enable unlimited access to branded content bundles through the Tone application.

  • Established team workflow, trained and managed a global team of customer support representatives.

  • Created user manuals, FAQ’s and training materials for customer support team.

  • Ensured manuals for users, FAQ’s and training materials were translated in their regional language by remote teams.

  • Troubleshot Tier 2 technical support issues via phone and email from our internal and external stakeholders.

  • Responded to incoming issues from customers and clients via FreshDesk.

  • Assisted QA teams with functional testing / black box testing, updated test cases spreadsheet and documented bug reports using JIRA.

  • Monitored activity levels on issues from users and reported them back to Operations Manager.

  • Reviewed and reported weekly and monthly Google Play Store metrics back to Operations Manager.


STEPFAMILY FOUNDATION (2009 - PRESENT)

TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR

The Stepfamily Foundation is a not for profit chartered as an educational institution by the State of New York. It is the only organization to offer credentialing in stepfamily counseling.

  • Redesigned the organization website to be accessible to mobile devices including tablets and smart phones.

  • Manage website updates including posting content to social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter. Grow The Stepfamily Foundation Facebook Page audience by creating and maintaining a Facebook Ad campaign which includes 5,188 impressions, 5,115 reach, CTR of 0.501% for certification seminar events on a limited budget.

  • Implement 301 redirects for page moves.

  • Install, configure and maintain organization PC, Mac, iOS, Android, Chromecast, routers, switches, and printers.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues in person and remotely.

  • Assist the Founder and President of the Stepfamily Foundation to contact internet radio and local radio shows to pitch ideas for upcoming talk shows, hold conference calls with Facebook and Google Ad teams to develop an advertisement campaign to expand our web presence.
